"There is change, and departure: but there is also help when least looked for from the strangers of the day, and hiding, out among the accidents of this drifting Humility, never quite to be extinguished, a few small chances for mercy."

Whitland (and Zappa)
If you're in the audience and like what we do...
We'd like you to know that we like you all too...
But as for the sucker that writes the review...
...if his mind is prehensile (mind is prehensile!),
...if his mind is prehensile (mind is prehensile!),
he'll put down his pencil (put down his pencil!),
and have himself a squat on the cosmic utensil! (Cosmic utensil!)
...go on, give it all you got on the cosmic utensil! (Cosmic utensil!)
...sit and spin until you rot on the cosmic utensil! (Cosmic utensil!)
...man he really needs to squat on the cosmic utensil! (Cosmic utensil!)

“No matter how long you work, it’s always going to end sometime. And
there’s always going to be things left undone. And it wouldn’t matter if
you lived until you were seventy-five. There would still be new ideas.
There would still be things that you wished you would have accomplished.
You could work for several lifetimes….Part of the reason that I’m not
having trouble facing the reality of death is that it’s not a
limitation, in a way. It could have happened any time, and it is going
to happen sometime. If you live your life according to that, death is
irrelevant. Everything I’m doing right now is exactly what I want to do."

McLuhanism
"It has been assumed till now that so long as everybody is hypnotised by the same isolated sense or spell, the resulting homogeneity of mental states will suffice for human association."

I dream that I have found us both again,
With spring so many strangers' lives away,
And we, so free,
Out walking by the sea,
With someone else's paper words to say...
They took us at the gates of green return,
Too lost by then to stop, and ask them why-
Do children meet again?
Does any trace remain,
Along the super highways of July?
- Roger Mexico (in Gravity's Rainbow)

John Taylor Gatto- Seven things school does to children.
- It confuses the students. It presents an incoherent ensemble of information that the child needs to memorize to stay in school. Apart from the tests and trials that programming is similar to the television, it fills almost all the "free" time of children. One sees and hears something, only to forget it again.
- It teaches them to accept their class affiliation.
- It makes them indifferent.
- It makes them emotionally dependent.
- It makes them intellectually dependent.
- It teaches them a kind of self-confidence that requires constant confirmation by experts (provisional self-esteem).
- It makes it clear to them that they cannot hide, because they are always supervised.

We glide through that chaos.
"It's so like a line, or, the difference is so powerful."
"That simple notion, a coincidence among coincidences is all one needs to know."
"Drawings of a geocentric solar system, when we meet them in the books, make us avert our eyes. Heresy is heresy."
"Giordano Bruno- I think they burned him. He was too positive.
Fight fire with fire."
-Robert Ashley, The Backyard
"Myth is the mode of simultaneous awareness of a complex group of causes and effects."- Marshall McLuhan
"Truth is a ratio between the mind and things."- Marshall McLuhan
"Imagine that you have died. After many years of being away, you are allowed a single glance eathward. You see a lamppost and an old dog lifting its leg.
You are so moved, you cannot help sobbing."
-Paul Klee, 1905
"It mounts the sun-barge and may take me with it."

No one you can order around is worth having around.
P.S. Looking through the archives to dredge these up, found a good Marshall McLuhanism:
"The 'content' of a medium is like the juicy piece of meat carried by the burglar to distract the watchdog of the mind."
